"We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives."
- John F. Kennedy

With the end of one fiscal year and the start of another, I've been reflecting on all we've accomplished together, and how thankful I am that you are on this journey with us.

I recently heard that libraries worldwide are experiencing a renaissance of sorts. I can't say I've witnessed much of a lull, but I can attest to a sharp increase in circulation of materials, digital downloads, computer usage, and program participation throughout our locations.

Because of you, the Foundation raised over $1.7 million from 1700 donors to support the programming, books and digital materials, technology carts, endowments and more that make the Library an essential part of the fabric of our community. This year our Friends Council introduced Final Draught, a quarterly speaker series that is already welcoming new audiences to the Library family. I hope you'll join us for the next installment on September 14.

With increased individual, corporate, and foundation support it's been an exciting year. Verse & Vino and EpicFest attracted more people than ever before, and we added a new EpicFest event just for teens. The Library introduced - and already expanded - Active Reading workshops for caregivers and volunteers, designed to increase rates of reading proficiency by third grade, and we're planning for the future as we test new approaches to service delivery at the soon-to-reopen Morrison Regional and sharpen the vision for a new Main Library.

We couldn't do any of this without the enthusiastic support of this community. Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime with questions and ideas. Together with you, we look forward to another year of improving lives and building a stronger community.

Warmly,

Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE
Executive Director
