Hello ,
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of change – and now we stand at the edge of the next chapter.
November began with Verse & Vino. Over 1,300 viewers tuned in live, participants enjoyed the first-ever live question and answer sessions with authors, tasted the first pours of CommonSpark beer, and donated over $400,000 to the Library Foundation – and gifts are still coming in. Also at Verse & Vino, CommonSpark campaign co-chair and longtime Library supporter Charles Bowman announced an investment of $1 million from Bank of America.
Next, our community said goodbye to the current Main Library in an event that truly lived up to its name - One for the Books. Thousands gathered uptown over two weekends for a historical audio tour of Main Library, to admire working artist Osiris Rain's stunning mural, to leave their own mark on the Library walls, to view a documentary about the Library’s evolution, and to celebrate the legacy of our Library over the last century and welcome the promise of the next.
This week the Library Foundation moved out of Main Library. We were the last to go, and now it’s real. We'll be at ImaginOn (300 East Seventh Street) during construction. We are at the end of this part of our Library’s story.
As we enter this season of gratitude, we are grateful for this community, and for this moment. Thank you for your continued support, for being a part of the story, and for helping to write the next chapter. We can hardly wait to see you again at Main.
Warmly,
Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE Executive Director
P.S. We hope we can count on your support on Giving Tuesday, November 30. Don't miss the Giving Tuesday Auction - support the new Main Library by taking home a memento of the current one!
