When I was growing up, birthdays meant receiving presents like books, records and clothes. To my nephew, birthdays mean selflessly asking his friends and family to donate to St. Jude’s Hospital in honor of his special day. Today’s celebrations are much more thoughtful, generous, and community-oriented.
Like many deserving organizations, your Charlotte Mecklenburg Library continues to benefit from this altruistic spirit. Facebook fundraisers, charity events, gifts in honor of loved ones, planned legacy gifts to the Library and much more happen regularly. We receive unsolicited gifts large and small – sometimes annually – from people throughout this community who use shared passion for our Library as a platform for social philanthropy. The opportunities this community finds to combine fun and celebration with fundraising are inspiring.
We are so proud and grateful to be the recipients of your philanthropy and we ask you to continue this trend and encourage others to join you.
Your Library is the welcoming, trusted, essential place it is because of your support. We often say Library programs and services are embedded throughout the community, and today we recognize that so is your recognition of the Library's value.
Thank you for making your libraries and communities stronger.
