SEPTEMBER E-NEWS

"The library card is a passport to wonders and miracles, glimpses into other lives, religions, experiences, the hopes and dreams and strivings of ALL human beings, and it is this passport that opens our eyes and hearts to the world beyond our front doors, that is one of our best hopes against tyranny, xenophobia, hopelessness, despair, anarchy and ignorance."

 Libba Bray, author

Last week was an extraordinary time for our community.  The events and emotions we all experienced remind us that Charlotte has a long way to go before we are one, united community committed to each another and our shared future.

I believe there is hope – as long as there are individuals and organizations like your Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, built on a foundation of free access for all, providing everyone an opportunity to become the best version of themselves.  We are not alone in this mission, but we are essential.

And you are essential. We are grateful every day for your investment in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation, and your participation in an inclusive community of readers, leaders and lifelong learners.

We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events, and at the Library.

With warm appreciation,

Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE
Executive Director

The Leon Levine Foundation matching grant challenge is in full swing, and we're thrilled to report that this community is showing their #Librarylove! New or increased gifts of up to $5,000 received by December 10th are eligible for a match, and we are already nearly halfway to our goal of $100,000. THANK YOU for loving - and supporting - your Library!
