Stronger together.

That phrase is stuck in my mind. It started a few weeks ago, when Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools superintendent Clayton Wilcox met with Library staff to discuss how our organizations' strategic plans intersect. Two champions for literacy and education are clearly stronger together.

A world of information and resources have always been free and open to all at our Library. There can be more.

Plans for the new Main Library are all about bringing people together to build a stronger community. It will be a place where every voice can be heard, every perspective welcomed, and where dialogue is inclusive, respectful, and leads to better understanding. A place that facilitates the interactions that lead to opportunity.

The planning process is already bringing us together. Visioning workshops, open design sessions, and more have become a standing component of the project calendar. Last week Charlotteans in all forms of media - from traditional news to podcasters and disruptors - imagined together how the production, broadcast and collection of public stories can be part of the new Library.

We are stronger together, and together we are creating a better future. Thank you for being a part of the process.

Warmly,

Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE
Executive Director
