"In the years I've spent observing how shared spaces shape our interactions, the one place that has consistently promoted a modern ideal of mutual respect and enlightenment is the local library."
- Sociologist Eric Klinenberg in The Atlantic
This week, residents from throughout Mecklenburg County are coming into Library locations for early voting, and I can't think of a more fitting location for this form of civic participation. Increasingly, individuals and organizations head to Charlotte Mecklenburg Library when they're seeking connection, conversation and inclusive, respectful dialogue.
As you'll see below, there's a lot in store in the coming weeks - including An Evening with President Bill Clinton and James Patterson, and our largest Literary Weekend yet. All of this is possible because of you. Your curiosity, generosity, and investment have helped to make your Library - and Charlotte - a nationally-recognized literary destination. You've made your Library the place to be.
Thank you, now and always. Your participation builds a better Library and a stronger community.
Warmly,
Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE Executive Director
