November E-Newsletter
"It doesn't matter what you have. What matters is what you are trying to do."
- Author Casey Gerald at Verse & Vino 2018
In this week of Thanksgiving, I am so very grateful.
November is almost too busy to step back and reflect but doing so makes all the difference. We started the month with the largest-ever Verse & Vino. Over 1200 Library supporters celebrated at what one attendee dubbed "the book prom." Enjoy the prom pics! Over the following two days, 12 children's and young adult authors and illustrators visited 21 schools and headlined a day-long EpicFest at ImaginOn. I hope you enjoy those photos as well.
Library supporters gathered again last week at Final Draught, which featured a thought-provoking panel discussion about what it takes to survive and thrive as an artist in Charlotte. And we'll finish the month with An Evening with Bill Clinton and James Patterson. The two co-authored The President is Missing, and this event is a unique opportunity for Charlotte readers because Patterson rarely tours, and this novel marks the first time a President has collaborated with a best-selling novelist on a work of fiction. I hope you'll join us to hear about the book and their writing process.
As we begin the holiday season, I have much to be thankful for - including our Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and this diverse and ever-widening circle of supporters who come together to learn, to grow, and to so generously invest in improving lives and building a stronger community.
Thank you, and I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving.
Warmly,
Jenni Gaisbauer, CFRE Executive Director
