Grateful

Hello ,

This week, I’ve been thinking about the impact of giving. Your generosity on Library Giving Day – and every day – is humbling and overwhelming in so many ways. Even during this time of great uncertainty, with so many organizations and individuals in need of support, our community demonstrated unwavering commitment to our Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, and we are truly grateful.

Some donors designated gifts to specific programs or branches, others are looking to the future with investments in the new Main Library, and many chose to make their gifts unrestricted. These support the Library’s areas of highest priority, which include the expansion of digital offerings during this period of increased demand.

The impact of each gift goes far beyond the way the dollars are spent. Below, librarian Cearra Harris shares a story of what a gift in honor means to her. Donors often share stories of why they give, and we’d love to know more about why you give.

Thank you for supporting your library and each other. Stay well,

P.S. Two donors – Barbara Wertz and Melissa Elder – won the Library Giving Day drawing for Verse & Vino tickets. Barbara and Melissa, we’ll be in touch!
